Faculty Librarian, Library Services

James is a fantastic librarian. He has worked with me on a number of occasions to create brilliant learning spaces and provide learning resources. He has worked hard to make the space visually inspiring. He has created displays focussed on different topics, such as architecture, which are directly linked to student learning.

James does an essential job in providing key learning resources to students. But further than that, he curates a library and catalogue that nurtures curiosity and creativity. The Queens library is truly a space of adventure and discovery. Working collaboratively with both staff and students you can now find a tactile library of materials, an original drawing by Norman Foster, an exhibit on living on Mars as well as books on walking routes around Bristol to help with wellbeing. The space has learning at it’s heart, but not the static learning of so many spaces, but a curiosity driven learning which is deeply enriching.

James has been working with me to try and adapt aspects of the library for neuro-diverse individuals. The Queens Building library, whilst already excellent, has James also working on leading research to ensure that it is best placed to support all needs.
