Education for Sustainable Development: visit to Embercombe

In springtime of this year 40 students and staff took part in an exciting sustainability-focused field trip to a 50-acre rewilding site in Devon. Embercombe is a largely off-grid education center which runs experiential workshops related to environmental issues such as deep ecology, animism and inner sustainability explorations. During the trip, the participants were involved in pond-dipping, fire-building, plant life identification, as well as learning more about rewilding and its importance for developing sensitive ecological responses.

A repeat trip is planned for 2024. To join the next one, please contact to be added to the Education for Sustainable Development Network (ESDN) mailing list. The Network regularly run workshops and events to encourage staff to think about sustainable development within their teaching activities, as well as engage students in alternative pedagogies for sustainability.
