Sloane Robinson teaching and learning surveys closing soon
BILT are carrying out two short surveys for staff and students to understand experiences in the new teaching spaces and to feedback into future developments. We would be most appreciative if you can fill in the teaching survey, and promote the learning survey to students. Both surveys close 16 October.
Please find BILT’s guidance to teaching in the Sloane Robinson building here.
STAFF: Tell us how your teaching is going at the Sloane Robinson building
This short survey should take around 5 minutes to complete and asks about your experience of teaching in the Sloane Robinson building. Your feedback will help inform future support and developments.

REMINDER: Share your plans for the year with us!
We’d love for you to share your teaching plans for the year with us – whether it’s trying out something new in the classroom, utilising online tools or taking your students off campus to develop peer relationships (or anything else!).
Writing a blog for BILT is a great way to share your practice, develop your writing skills and raise your profile within the University. We have writing guidelines available to use and we will support you through drafting your piece.

Blogs and resources
We have had a quiet fortnight with regard to publishing, but here are some recent blogs with a ‘back to school’ theme:
- One of the most popular blogs on the BILT site this month is this one: Maximising active learning spaces inclusively – Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching. Whether you’re teaching in TQ, or elsewhere at the University, there are some great suggestions from Fiona Hartley on this area of practice.
- Another blog which is gaining momentum this month is this one: Introducing the Bristol Skills Profile – Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching. The start of the year is always a great time to remember some of the essential skills covered by the Bristol Skills Profile and how these can be surfaced most effectively in curriculum and teaching.
- Finally, one other blog drawing attention is this one: Responding to Student Feedback: A Guide for Staff – Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching. Considering the relational aspects of Learning and Teaching at the start of the year and how this may develop across the academic year is helpful in thinking about the year ahead. Split into four parts, the guide offers some valuable considerations for teaching staff.
