Deputy Student Administration Manager , School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology

Rhiannon has utterly transformed student support within the school, since she started in her role, less than a year ago. She has taken ownership of and completely redesigned the student support systems within the school, with so many benefits for staff and students alike.

In her support for the Engineering Mathematics Student Society, Rhiannon has empowered students to reach their potential. Many of the current members of the student organising committee have had to overcome big personal and academic hurdles, just to stay at university. Rhiannon has encouraged them to go way beyond their existing achievements, and take on these new leadership roles. She has helped give them the confidence to shine, to realise their ambitions and develop new skills. It’s absolutely brilliant to see, and such a testament to her skills to nurture and inspire a new generation to thrive.

Her leadership on support for students with disabilities has made measurable differences to so many students in the school. She has been incredibly proactive in fostering an inclusive learning environment, whether it’s helping staff to understand the study support needs of their cohort and how they can be best enabled to reach their potential, or helping students – and their parents – to navigate the challenging waters of their first diagnosis. She challenges us all to be better and more inclusive, in everything we do, and it’s a joy and privilege to be able to work with her.
