Hello!
My name is Kat, and I am one of the Student Fellows working for BILT in the 24/25 academic year. I am excited to be researching the theme ‘Active and Inclusive Learning in Small and Large Group Contexts’, considering student experience, outcome and teaching at the University of Bristol.

I am in my fourth year at the University of Bristol, studying MSc Marketing, and have loved my time in Bristol so far. I graduated from my undergraduate degree in Social Policy and Sociology BSc in August 2024, a field which I really enjoyed studying.
Alongside my undergraduate degree, I worked as a Student Ambassador, which gave me the opportunity to learn more about how new students experience the University. I worked on Widening Participation with prospective students, as well as leading tours and speaking on panels about university life and studies.
I spent my summer completing a marketing internship, which solidified my interest in further study of the field, and meant I had a final year of enjoying Bristol! I loved having the chance to explore this industry in more detail, and gain experience in marketing analytics, copywriting, webpage building and so much more.
Throughout my years of study, I have learnt that the way in which students feel supported and included in their learning is vital to their outcome. ‘Active and Inclusive Learning in Small and Group Contexts’ is BILT’s current themes, with 7 Education Development Projects taking place in this area, which aim to innovate teaching. Having the opportunity to contribute to the University’s’ understanding of student learning experience and research such an important topic is something I am really looking forward to. I wanted to work on this particular research project due to its relevance to student outcome, academic teaching and enjoyment of studies. My hope is to produce research and resources that are valuable to students and academics alike, and support members of the university in improving their experiences.
Outside of my academic life, my interests mainly relate to staying active. I am a committee member for the Bristol University Korfball Club, where I am responsible for the club social media, kit and charity involvement. I also enjoy playing intramural netball with a group of friends, and going to the gym. Reading (not for degree purposes!) is also an interest of mine, as a way to relax and learn.
