Mark Schenk

Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering, School of Civil, Aerospace and Design Engineering

He made every class fun. Mechanics is one of the toughest areas for most of us yet he taught in such a way that we always wanted to come to class.

He brought props into class to make teaching more visual. He let us experiment with these props and visualise how Mechanics affects motion in the real world.

He tried his best to accommodate our different learning needs. For those of us who loved lectures, they were as interactive as could be. For those of us who loved self-study, he had all the handouts, example sheets and model solutions uploaded in the first few weeks so nobody was left behind.

The way Mark Schenk teaches us Mechanics is amazing! Wherever possible, he introduces different mechanisms or uses everyday things to show how physics works! Potato and knife, ‘magical’ rolling cylinders, one-direction spinning rattleback, bicycle: whole and by parts… Thank you so much for all the wonderful lessons!
