Their genuine care for students and passion for improving the student learning experience has been apparent in every interaction I’ve had with the team over many years. It is also notable that the huge impact they have on improving the student learning experience of all Engineering students is achieved by a core team of only 8 individuals.
This includes tailored advice for international students on improving their employability skills and finding placements, as well as a regularly updated ‘placement opportunities’ spreadsheet, allowing students to easily find and apply for relevant placement opportunities. The team also work closely with the Careers Service to ensure effective integration with Careers Service activities and sharing of best practice.
The ILO schemes are consistently praised by the Faculty’s accreditation bodies, industrial partners and through direct feedback from staff and students. It is also notable that our engineering programmes have excellent graduate employment statistics and the opportunities students gain through these schemes undoubtedly play a large part in this success.
