Teaching Associate, School of Biological Sciences

The students really appreciate Chris’s passion for the subject, and his dedication. He is compassionate in his teaching, and he will often spend a long time with one student who is struggling, to ensure that they both understand the content, and are reassured in their own abilities.

Chris is always coming up with good ideas for how academics in the school – including me – can tweak the structure and content of their practical classes so that students can get the most out of the time in the session. His experience is incredibly valuable and I’m in awe that he can maintain his levels of enthusiasm given the very long hours that he spends on his feet teaching undergraduates in our windowless lab.

I know that Chris spends time talking to all students with first and second year practicals. He’s built a solid rapport with our undergraduates which means they feel very comfortable talking to him.
