We are super excited to announce that you can now book your tickets to our 2024 conference! Taking place on 10 July in the Merchant Venturer’s Building, our conference title is ‘Voice and choice: student agency, empowerment and co-creation’, covering a wide-spectrum of pedagogies and practices.

This is a full day event, with four parallel sessions, a poster gallery and, new for this year, a Teaching and Learning Gallery – showcasing the work BILT have developed this year.

Refreshments and lunch are included.

Staff can choose from morning only, afternoon only or all day, during enrolment. We’re also bringing back our popular ‘Randomised Coffee’ pre-event.

More information and the full day’s programme is available on our event page.

Staff can register via Develop. Students register here.

If you pre-registered with us last month, there is no need to register again. We will be in touch soon with more details.

  • A is for A.I. (The A – Z of BILT)

Libraries and Decolonisation: an introduction for academic staff

Thursday 6 June 2024: 9:30 am – 10:30 am

Decolonisation is shaping and influencing how the University views itself and how it delivers programmes and services. As a central service, the Library plays an important role in this area. In this session for academic staff we aim to explore some of the connections between libraries and colonial power, discuss how information resources have the potential to be a key part in decolonial practice, and share practical tips for finding resources from under-represented communities and regions.

Three Horizons Framework – Futures Thinking for Sustainable Change

Thursday 9 May 2024: 11 am – 12.30 pm

Three Horizons is a simple and intuitive framework that brings people together to take action. It can help us to structure our thinking about the future in ways that spark innovation. If we all want to live well and thrive on one planet we must bring about profound changes in our ways of life.

Join us to learn about the framework and explore how to create the sustainable futures we aspire to.

This session is led by Bill Sharpe, one of the pioneers of the Three Horizons framework and director of Future Stewards (www.futurestewards.com). If you would like a preview, take a look at this short introductory video.
