Professor of Electrical Engineering, School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering
He has been creating a learning experience which enables the students to think actively in the class by problem solving. In many cases, the students have to act as if they are ‘junior consultants’ employed by a consultancy company and have to deliver solutions to real engineering problems. This is a very different teaching style than the traditional lecture based teachings and intrigues the students’ mindset toward learning by active analysis of problems.
In his classes, students mix and match regularly in different groups in every session. This enables them to learn how to work with different team members of different backgrounds, preparing them for working in multicultural international consultancy and engineering firms upon graduation.
He has recorded excellent asynchronous materials, going above and beyond, by showcasing real examples of, for instance, his own camper van, and how he has tackled solving engineering problems with it. To name only one, in one of the videos he has recorded, he disintegrates the power inverter of his own van to show the students how it functions and installs it again. This is a true example of going the extra mile in caring of students’ learning experience.
