SUMMARY:TQ Teaching in the round: Mock-up and try it out
DESCRIPTION:STAFF REGISTER HERE     STUDENTS REGISTER HERE\nOn Monday 20 April we are partially ‘mocking up’ the Temple Quarter teaching in the round space in the Wills Memorial Building Reception Room. \nCome and see what this new and exciting space might look and feel like – two opportunities are available to all staff and students: \nTeaching in the round mock-up introduction: 10.00-11.00am\nTansy Jessop\, PVC Education and Students and Mia Stevens\, SU UG Education Officer will outline the vision for the space and the experience for students. Following the short talks from Tansy and Mia\, Mark France\, Department of Theatre will outline what such a space affords and some top tips for staff using it. The one-hour event will conclude with a Q and A session.\nThe event booking is on a first come\, first served basis. \nImmediately following this event (same venue): \n\n11.15am – 12.15pm Teaching in the round drop-in – come and see for yourself what the new space might look and feel like. This includes practical techniques to train and strengthen your speaking voice\, projection\, warming-up\, body language and using authenticity to tap into your inner charisma.\n\nCharisma can be broken down into:\n\n● Being present\n\n● Being relaxed\n\n● Being authentic\n\n● Caring about what you are talking about\n\n● Listening to the audience\n\nAll these skills can be taught and practiced. This is not a performance or performing workshop. Every activity will be an invitation and offered to do in pairs or small groups\, including discussion and reflection. SUMMARY:Show\, Tell and Talk: Inclusive Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Staff register here \n\nInclusive or ‘designed for all’ assessment aims to enable all students\, whatever their characteristics or background to engage in and demonstrate their learning. The university’s assessment strategy attention to design as a central component of inclusivity. Traditionally\, discussions of inclusivity have centred around adjustments\, such as extra time\, provided for students to level the playing field and ensure equitable access to assessments. Such adjustments are often made at the individual level when students present with evidence for needing them. They typically have no impact on the design of the assessment itself. The University’s strategic approach emphasises that inclusivity should be integral to an assessment and not simply a post hoc adjustment made for access purposes.\n\nThis sharing innovations workshop will provide an opportunity to hear from a range of colleagues about how the theme is being embedded at UoB\, why it is important and what Inclusive Assessment projects\, supported by BILT\, are being undertaken at the University.
