SUMMARY:Designing Active Learning - An introduction
DESCRIPTION:Active learning is fundamentally about student engagement and participation. It involves students going beyond passive listening in lectures or ‘sitting back and being fed information’ to ‘learning by doing’ and being agents of their own learning\, for example through discussion\, problem solving\, role-play\, and creating something new. This workshop facilitated by BILT will explore the active learning techniques for the classroom\, as well as approaches to designing active learning curricula. Case studies from across the university will share ideas and practical implications.\n\nThe workshop will:\n\nExplore active learning and why it is valuable\nGenerate ideas to implement in the classroom and curricula\nDevelop future plans to make learning and curricula more active\n\nREGISTER HERE \nShare this:\n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Supporting Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Schools
DESCRIPTION:How can your School champion the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and pedagogic research?\nHow can SoTL help you enhance student learning\, outcomes\, and satisfaction?\nAnd how can you empower colleagues to get involved?\n\nJoin us for an interactive session exploring how Schools can build vibrant\, sustainable cultures of SoTL. Together\, we’ll share real experiences\, practical strategies\, and honest reflections on what helps (and what hinders!) effective SoTL development.\n\nYou’ll hear from colleagues across a range of Schools who have taken different approaches to growing SoTL activity—what they tried\, what succeeded\, what they would rethink\, and the positive impact their work has had on both staff and students.\n\nThis session is also an opportunity for you to reflect on how SoTL is currently supported in your own School\, identify areas for growth\, and discuss concrete ideas for taking SoTL practice forward. Whether your School is just beginning its SoTL journey or already has established activity\, you’ll gain insights\, inspiration\, and connections to help strengthen your local culture of educational scholarship.\n\nREGISTER HERE\nShare this:\n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n Like this:Like Loading...
