Show Tell and Talk: Teaching and learning in the international classroom workshops

The University of Bristol is home to over 8,000 international students who represent more than 150 countries. Part of the University’s mission is to develop its global engagement and provide a student-centred learning environment. An understanding of how our approach to teaching and assessment and the content of our curricula impacts the international student experience is key to achieving these goals.
The full session will include:
- A curriculum design workshop (120 minutes) – Choose from online or in-person. Providing an opportunity to hear about University priorities related to the theme, give space to reflect and develop your learning and teaching practices whilst also providing tips and advice for implementation best practice in your work.
- A sharing innovations workshop (60 minutes) – Providing an opportunity to hear from a former BILT student fellow about their research. There will be an opportunity to share ideas, information and ask questions as well as an opportunity for informal discussions with colleagues.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available from 10 am and again at 12.45 pm.

Led by colleagues in CALD, this workshop will:
- explore the challenges and opportunities in our learning, teaching and assessment encounters in with international students .
- consider lecturer and student experiences in international classrooms and how they are affected its diversity of language and culture
- share practical strategies, resources and reflect on why certain activities are of value
- provide space for you to reflect and develop your learning and teaching practices and consider how to implementation best practice in your work.
