Senior Lecturer, School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience

Andrew fosters an environment that encourages independent thinking and values individual interpretation. Early in the academic year, he involved students in collaborative presentations, simulating a professional research setting. As they begin to identify their own interests, he supports students to explore topics more deeply. He urges students to question accepted scientific ideas and approach problems from interdisciplinary angles. Andrew provides foundational resources and encourages students to justify their reasoning and consider wider clinical implications. He listens attentively, engages thoughtfully with their work, and challenges them in a constructive, respectful manner, treating students as emerging scientists. His mentorship instils confidence and curiosity, and he inspires students to pursue careers in research.
